SYNOPSIS
Through the endearing relationship maintained by the teacher, Don Gregorio, and the boy, Pardal; the story of the protagonist's childhood fascination with the unknown and the suffering caused by the repression of human freedoms is gradually discovered. The learning process that the boy undertakes at the hands of the school teacher (a figure that symbolizes the freedom that knowledge generates) is also a witness to the tragedy of living in fear, of the raw impact generated by the outbreak of a civil war. Back to Rivas is, for Sarabela, returning to one of his "fetish" authors. It is, in a way, coming home. Since the arrival of the new millennium, this will be the Company's fourth collaboration with the author: O lapis do carpinteiro (2000), O heroe (2005) and Os libros arden mal (2007) - the latter was a dramatized reading -, were the previous ones . If with O Heroe the 25th anniversary of the Company was celebrated, with A lingua das bolboretas the 40th anniversary of Sarabela is celebrated. We combined the stories of two of Manuel Rivas's writings (The Language of Butterflies and The Trajectory of the Ball) with that team and with the purpose of making the message reach the children while playing with images and poetics that lead us to a cutting-edge show within our scenic history. The result moved the author on the day of the premiere. "I really loved that teacher, confesses Moncho. At first, my parents couldn't believe it. I mean they couldn't understand how I loved my master. When I was a little boy, school was a terrible threat. A word that rang in the air like a rattan stick: You'll see when you go to school!".
