THE CRUSHING

SYNOPSIS

The work of the Nosa Narrative made Theater
How could it be otherwise, The Esmorga It is the first theatrical creature conceived in the auditorium, in "Auria". This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of the novel, summit of our narrative, and the 30 years of the passing of Don Eduardo Blanco Amor, our extraordinary Ourense and universal author. This is our contribution to celebrating and sharing this unique event with you.
Sarabela Teatro, a resident company of Ourense, begins, therefore, what we hope will be a fruitful collaboration with a work that inspires absolute confidence for its wealth and depth and had already caused a lot of impact thirteen years ago. (The Esmorga It is also the first replacement of the company in its 29 years of theatrical survival).

A contemporary tragedy
We maintain the textual adaptation of Begoña Muñoz and Carlos Couceiro, we recreate the journey of three very conflicting individuals (Cibrán, Bocas and Milhomes) who escape from justice, commit a series of crimes.
We play with the double interpretation: monologues in present of the reo (Cibrán) in the first person in front of a "absent" judge; And in Flashback the events that took place in the twenty -four hours of Esmorga in which the protagonist participated.
We add gesture scenes like that of that damn and enigmatic character Marquis de Andrada. We also emphasize the presence of the stylized choir and witness the events we unfold in the Choir of Thought and Social Choir.
Actors and actresses work on very intense emotional records for violence and the search for pleasure as a liberation of misery and fear create an ascending climax in which the contrast between reality and the fantastic became important; Between what is typical of the real life of the crashes (taverns, brothel) and what is alien to them and unattainable (Pazos, church).
The themes go to the action: economic oppression, social domain and sexual repression lead to the "crazy" to murder or self -destruction; The other alternative, that of madness. Young people carry violence against themselves and are destroyed with each other.
The women of the Troulada are very important, they also live on the margins. In contrast appears the mysterious foreign and aristocratic woman who will dismantle the myth of the ideal woman. Cibrán's friend (A Raxada) and the mother are strong women in front of adversity, try to persuade him to calm down and fulfill his promise. Dramatic tension is sometimes very high.
The atmosphere of the work is marked by the rain, which creates an overwhelming atmosphere and determines, in many occasions, the decisions of the crashes in that escape of repression that gives great dynamism to the show in a climate of fatality that surrounds events.
With the help of the enormous plasticity of the scenery, the light, the images and the effects necessary to visualize the roaming actions; with the valuable contribution of live music; With the harmonization of the locker room, makeup and masks, and above all with a first -rate cast, we hope that this proposal, focused as a contemporary tragedy, satisfies your expectations.

A show capable of bleeding in the rain and crying on fire
From the first scene, the viewer enters the tragedy. The Esmorga combines with amazing naturalness the absolute essence of life and death. Intense, exciting and, above all, is a masterpiece, of the best ever written. Of course, you'll know the novel. You can now book your localities.
